REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Softball team (3-2, 3-1 SCIAC) won their third-straight game after run-ruling Occidental College 9-1 Friday afternoon at The Field of Dreams.
Leila Jackson (Vallejo, CA) got the scoring started in the first inning when she doubled home Brooklyn Bard (Garden Grove, CA) and Paige Messenlehner (Fresno, CA). Later in the inning Isabella Culp (Bayliss, CA) made it 3-0 on a single to left center.
In the second and fourth innings Katlyn Gandara (Whittier, CA) and Kassidy Long (Hemet, CA) both collected RBI's to put the Bulldogs ahead 6-0 after four.
The seventh run of the game came when Jenay Scott (Merced, CA) scored on a sacrifice fly to left by Messenlehner. Following the Tigers' first run in the sixth, Scott singled home Natalie Lowthers (Wrightwood, CA) who reached on a double to left and Avery Provenzano (San Jose, CA) doubled home Scott to complete the run-rule victory, 9-1.
Bard did not record an official at bat as she drew three walks and scored twice. Jackson drove in two and scored twice. Gandara got the start and went two scoreless innings. Kaylen Galaviz (Yuba City, CA) also threw two scoreless as she picked up her first win of the season. Paige Ellinger (Temecula, CA) finished the game off with a pair of strikeouts across the fifth and sixth.
The final two games of the series are on the road with first pitch of game one of the doubleheader tomorrow at noon.
