U of R Men’s Tennis makes quick work of Colorado College 6-1

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Tennis team made quick work of Colorado College Monday afternoon winning 6-1 inside the Verdieck Tennis Center. 

The Bulldogs dominated from start to finish taking the early point in doubles before grabbing five of six points in singles collecting their second win on the season.

Cooper Whittington and MJ Abarca (San Diego, CA) rolled 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and were immediately followed by Gustavo Marcanth (Redondo Beach, CA) and Zac Nakajima (Beaverton, OR) taking their match at No. 3 7-5.  The last match on, which was unfinished was at the top spot from Vitomir Petcov (Portland, OR) and Jack Fanshawe (Brisbane, Australia).

In singles the U of R carried that early point and used the momentum with Petcov rolling at No. 2 6-0, 6-2.  Abarca won at No. 4 6-1, 6-4 and Whittington at No. 5 would take another straight sets match 6-3, 6-4 giving the Bulldogs the clinch. 

Dominic Anderson (Brisbane, Australia) was tested at the top spot but cruised 6-2, 6-4.  Jack Hinkle (Bountiful, Utah) who came into the singles lineup at No. 3 would grind out a three-setter winning 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (5) for the sixth point. 
The lone point to go to Colorado College came at No. 5 from Nakajima who made his debut into the singles lineup and despite putting up a fight would get edged 7-6, 7-5. 

Redlands returns to the court tomorrow, Tuesday, March 18 when they host No. 4 Denison University beginning at 2:00pm.
