Redlands Women's Lacrosse honors Vivian Reukauf | Secures SCIAC Tournament No. 3 seed

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (12-5, 8-4 SCIAC) honored senior Vivian Reukauf (Corvallis, OR) prior to their game with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Thursday night. During the game the Bulldogs fell 22-7, but they locked in the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament where they play No. 2 CMS in the Semi-Finals next Wednesday.

The Bulldogs fell behind 4-0 before Ruby Czajkowski (West Hartford, CT) scored her 45th goal of the season with 9:04 on the clock in the first. Three minutes later Nicole Sanders (Irvine, CA) scored an unassisted goal to draw the Bulldogs within five, 7-2.

In the opening minute of the second quarter Ella Batarse (Porter Ranch, CA) then fed Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA). Trailing 12-3 with just over 11 minutes to play in the opening half the Bulldogs received a spark from Gwen Guico (Camano Island, WA) who scored, while the U of R was playing down in what was goal number one of a 3-1 run the rest of the half. The other two goals came from Czajkowski off a Catie Ramicone (Countryside, Ill.) assist and a Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) assisted, Mallory Morrissey (Oceanside, CA) goal with a minute left.

The strong finish to the first half did not carry over though for the Maroon and Grey as the Athenas scored the first nine goals of the second half before Sanders found Webster for Redlands' seventh goal late in the fourth quarter.

Czajkowski and Webster each had two goals. Sophia Simonds (Livermore, CA) and Courtney Myers (Gig Harbor, WA) each recorded five ground balls and added a combined five caused turnovers. Myers also made nine saves in goal.

April Bryant (Danville, CA) had a tough assignment against the nation's top draw control specialist but she still managed three draw controls after the Athenas did not lose a single draw control to Whittier College Wednesday night.

Redlands' game against CMS is next Wednesday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. in Claremont with the winner going to the SCIAC Tournament Final to play for the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
