REDLANDS, Calif. – Coming off a fantastic performance on Wednesday night, the University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (8-4, 4-3 SCIAC) held a 1-0 lead against No. 13 Pomona-Pitzer. But the Sagehens scored the next 25 goals as the Bulldogs lost their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) home game, 25-1.
Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) found Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA) for a player advantage goal three minutes and :35 seconds into the game after Pomona-Pitzer went down a player due to a green card.
That would be the lone tally of the game for the Maroon and Grey as the Sagehens scored the final 25 goals of the contest.
In the second quarter Courtney Myers (Gig Harbor, WA) made two saves, one at the 8:53 mark and another with 8:18 remaining in the opening half. Myers made a third save in the first minute of the third quarter and four more in the fourth.
Webster forced the Sagehen keeper into their first save of the game with 8:24 on the clock in the fourth. Catie Ramicone (Countryside, Ill.) put a shot on target but it was saved with 6:24 left. Finally in the last two minutes Webster drew a free position opportunity in the final two minutes, but the shot was stopped.
Jenny Quinonez Diaz (Menlo Park, CA) forced two turnovers and had three ground balls. April Bryant (Danville, CA), Walker, and Sophia Rangel (Woodland Hills, CA) also had multi-ground ball days. Bryant, Maya Weaver (Tustin, CA), and Jacqueline Landucci (San Mateo, CA) won two draw controls each. Myers finished with seven saves.
Webster's goal is the 14th-straight game with at least one goal for the junior midfielder. It ties her with KK McCaslin (2014) for the ninth-longest streak in program history. She is eight away from third place and a "short" distance behind Hanna Morford's 63-straight (2016-19).
Redlands now prepares to play an important game at Chapman University this Monday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m.
