REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Softball team won their fifth-straight Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Regular Season title and will now host the SCIAC Tournament. Game one of the double elimination competition is today, Friday, May 9, at 1:00 p.m. when the Bulldogs host No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS).
Tournament Format
This is a double elimination tournament. The champion will have to play a minimum of three games if they sweep. Below is the schedule with times and who would play who depending on the winning/losing teams each day.

SCIAC Tournament History

No. 1 Redlands (33-7, 18-3)
The Bulldogs are currently riding a 13-game winning streak, the seventh-longest in program history, and the second 13 plus game winning streak after they won 15 from February 15-March 12. They finished 6-3 against the tournament field.
The 33 wins this year ties last seasons total for the fourth-most in program history. The 18 conference wins are the most since 2014 when the Bulldogs won 23 when the conference played 28 games instead of 21. For their success Head Coach Jose Ortega and his staff won the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year award.
Seven Bulldogs were named to the All-SCIAC teams: Paige Messenlehner, Leila Jackson, Jenay Scott, and Katlyn Gandara on the 1st Team and Brooklyn Bard, Paige Ellinger, and Kassidy Long on the 2nd Team. Messenlehner was also named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year.

The Panthers won the season series with the Bulldogs at the end of March. They were 7-2 against the tournament field. They had six All-SCIAC honorees: Rose Malen, Jillian Kelly, Chill Serna, and Miranda Murphy on the 1st Team and Mia Reyes on the 2nd Team. Malen was also named the SCIAC Pitcher of the Year.
