Sean Hansen named Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at the University of Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. - The University of Redlands Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Nikki Ayers is proud to announce the hiring of Sean Hansen to the position of Head Women's Lacrosse Coach.

Hansen, a dedicated member of the Bulldogs' coaching staff since August 2022, previously served as Assistant Coach for the past three seasons.

In stepping into her new role, Hansen expressed excitement and gratitude:

"I'm honored to accept the position as Head Women's Lacrosse Coach. I want to thank Nikki Ayers and the hiring committee for their trust and belief in my vision. It's a privilege to lead a program with such a rich tradition, and I'm excited to build on that strong foundation while continuing to innovate.  I'm especially grateful for our amazing student athletes whose passion and team comradery makes this community so special. I'm looking forward to getting started, go dawgs!"

Her journey at Redlands has been marked by rapid professional growth, including her recent completion of the inaugural IWLCA Aspire leadership program this past spring. 

Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Nikki Ayers shared her confidence in Hansen's leadership:

"Following a national search, Sean distinguished herself through her exceptional recruiting abilities, demonstrated leadership, and genuine passion for the University of Redlands and Bulldogs lacrosse. Our program is on a strong upward trajectory, and we are confident in her ability to guide its continued growth and success."

Prior to returning to Redlands, Hansen was the Director of Girls Lacrosse at Lacrosse Northwest in Portland, OR.  While with Lacrosse Northwest, Hansen handled coordination of leagues, camps, girls club teams and clinics. Her coordination duties included hiring staff, marketing, player recruitment, travel coordinator for club teams and tournament director for the Rose City lacrosse tournament. 

Prior to working with Lacrosse Northwest, Hansen spent a year and a half (2016-18) as the head coach for Linfield University's women's lacrosse program and gained head coaching experience at Sierra Nevada College (2015-16). 
From 2013-15, Hansen was a graduate assistant and the head coach at LaGrange College in Georgia. She earned her MA in Education and Teaching in December 2014. During her time in Georgia, Hansen recruited the largest class in program history and increased student-athlete academic progress.

Hansen graduated from the University of Redlands in 2010, earning a BA in Exercise and Sport Science with a minor in Psychology and was a Johnston Student.
