REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Water Polo team (2-11, 1-0 SCIAC) beat Occidental College 15-10 in their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opener Wednesday evening at the Thompson Aquatic Center (TAC).

Adam Lambert, Tim Jensen, and Tanner Stagner got the Bulldogs off to a fast 4-1 start as they each found the back of the net in the first quarter.

With less than three minutes to play in the first half Oliver Child and Oliver Finley each scored to push the lead to four, 6-2. Following a pair of Tiger goals Joseph Madigan scored the third Bulldog penalty of the first half as he put Redlands up three, 7-4.

Occidental came all the way back and tied the game at seven, and after a Stagner goal, Oxy equalized for a second time at eight with 2:02 left in the third.

Redlands, though, scored the final two goals of the third period and the first of the fourth thanks to Harrison DeCourcy, Jensen, and Lennon Franklin.

With the lead at only two, 11-9, Brody Nielsen started a 4-0 Bulldog run that lasted down to the :47 second mark of the fourth as Redlands took the opening game of the conference schedule. Brady Bailey scored twice during the run, while Camilo Solis added two assists.

Troy Barker made nine saves for a .474 save percentage across his 32 minutes of play. He also added a steal.

Redlands hosts Chapman University next Wednesday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the TAC.
