Redlands Men's Basketball holds La Verne under 70 points during home win

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Basketball team (12-2, 4-1 SCIAC) beat the University of La Verne (ULV) by 38 points Wednesday evening as they led by double digits inside of three minutes posting a 105-67 victory.

Lucas Gordon drew an early foul and converted on both of his free throws. Jake Hlywiak (Valencia, CA) then followed with a made free throw before he found Omari Ferguson (Chicago, Ill.) on the fastbreak. The U of R lead then expanded to 13-0 after Chozen Amadi got into the paint and made a pair of three pointers.

The Leopards did respond with an 11-0 run before a 6-2 Bulldog surge extended the lead to three possessions, 23-15. With the lead down to three, 27-24, Cam Brown (Bakersfield, CA) got to the line and made both before Gordon went on a personal 7-2 run to push the Redlands lead to within one of double figures, 35-26, with 9:47 on the clock.

Over the final 7:14 of the first half the Bulldogs outscored the Leopards 20-7 taking a 20-point lead into the break, 55-35. Derek Sangster (Sunnyvale, CA) had four points, and Austin Unegbu (Long Beach, CA) made a three off a Ferguson pass.

A 12-0 run by Redlands across the first three plus minutes of the second half put the game away as Ferguson added seven more points during the run.

With a new line of players on the floor, Sangster and Donovan Ware (Palmdale, CA) help the Bulldogs to a 10-4 run. Jaiden Agbo (Corona, CA) then had five points thanks to multiple successful drives to the hoop.

The lead reached 40 for the first time thanks to an 11-4 stretch that was fueled by Agbo, Unegbu, and Elijah Duncan (Stockton, CA) off the bench.

Agbo had 12 points thanks to an 8-of-10 mark at the line.  Unegbu had 10 points and six rebounds and Sangster missed a double double by one point and one rebound.
