Men's Basketball SCIAC Athletes of the Week (Week 15)

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Athletes of the Week Monday for Men's Basketball with University of Redlands senior forward Lucas Gordon (San Marcos, CA) being selected as the Defensive Athlete of the Week in the final week of voting.

The University of Redlands Men's Basketball team secured another two wins this past week helping them clinch a share of the SCIAC Regular Season Championship Title.  They started the week off with a lopsided upset over No. 16 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 91-69 and then held off a late surge by Whittier College on Saturday to win 86-82 clinching the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming SCIAC Tournament.  

Gordon was untouchable on the week averaging 22.5 PPG (45 Points), shooting 66.5% (19-for-29) from the field and 45.5% from three-point territory (5-for-11).  He averaged a double double on the week with 22 rebounds (11.0 RPG), 19 of which were defensive to go with three assists, four blocks and three steals.

Against the Stags he poured in 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting (60%) and 10 rebounds to go with two assists and a block.

He then went off for 25 points against the Poets on 10-of-14 shooting (71.4%), while knocking down four three-pointers (57%).  He also added 12 boards, three blocks, and three steals.  

Redlands returns to the court this Friday, February 27 at 7:00pm during the Semi-Finals of the SCIAC Tournament when they host the winner between Occidental College and California Lutheran University.
