THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Lacrosse team (7-2, 4-1 SCIAC) scored the first 17 goals of their conference game Saturday as they cruised to a 20-2 win over California Lutheran University (CLU) on the road.
Emily Webster (Ladera Ranch, CA), April Bryant (Danville, CA), Mallory Morrissey (Coronado, CA), Jacqueline Landucci (San Mateo, CA), and Sophia Rangel (Woodland Hills, CA) helped the Bulldogs get off to a strong 5-0 first quarter start.
Rangel then led off the second with a goal off a Ruby Czajkowski (Charlotte, NC) assist only :18 seconds after the opening whistle. Analiese Casillas (Eastvale, CA) then made it 7-0 Bulldogs. The eighth goal came from Czajkowski who was assisted by Maya Weaver (Tustin, CA).
The rest of the half saw Nicole Sanders (Irvine, CA), Landucci, Morrisey (2x), and Ella Batarse (Porter Ranch, CA) all find the back of the net for a 13-0 Bulldog lead.
In the second 30 minutes Gwenyth Guico (Camano Island, WA) had two goals and Cailin Walker (Portland, OR) picked up her first assist.
For the game Redlands outshot Cal Lutheran 30-9 with a 21-6 shot on goal advantage. They also picked up 12 clear attempts, 17 groundballs, 15 draw controls, and three free-position tallies.
Courtney Myers (Gig Harbor, WA) played the first half and did not allow a goal and totaled four saves. Walker finished with three goals and three assists, Czajowski with two goals and four assists, Morrisey with four goals and Bryant with two goals and two assists.
Redlands returns to Farquhar Field this Monday for a non-conference game against Willamette University at 6 p.m.
