LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFAC) announced their National Players of the Week with the University of Redlands Katlyn Gandara (Whittier, CA) earning their Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honor.
Gandara helped the Bulldogs go 5-0 and push their winning streak to 13 games, the joint seventh-longest streak in program history.
During the week she was a perfect 3-0 with no runs allowed across 13 innings. She allowed 10 hits with only one going for extra bases. She also struck out four with no walks allowed. She threw only 135 pitches to complete her 13 innings, good for just over 10 pitches per inning.
Additionally, she hit .700 with seven hits, three went for extra bases, which included two doubles and a homerun, drove in nine runs, and scored five times. She also logged time at first base defensively, recording six put outs and five assists with no errors.
Avery Provenzano (San Jose, CA) was also recognized as one of NFCA's other "Top Performers" after hitting .636 with two doubles and four runs batted in.
Gandara and the No. 7 ranked Bulldogs host the University of La Verne for a three-game series beginning this Friday, April 3 at 3:00 p.m. at the Field of Dreams.
