SCIAC Softball Weekly Release (Week 4)

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) selections were made for Softball  Athletes of the Week Monday with senior outfielder Brooklyn Bard (Long Beach, CA) receiving recognition as the Hitter of the Week in the fourth week of voting. 

The University of Redlands Softball team had a heavy schedule this past week going 6-1 with sweeps over Bridgewater College (2-1 & 4-0) and Gustavus Adolphus (5-3 & 8-2).  They then ended the week opening up SCIAC play, going 2-1 against California Lutheran University taking Game 1 (6-1) and Game 3 (16-8).

Bard had a record setting week for the Maroon and Grey combining to go 10-for-21 (.476) with nine runs scored, a double, three RBI's, six walks and 10 stolen bases.

The record setting performance came in Game 3 against CLU when she swiped her first bag, which gave her 106 in her career breaking the All-Time career stolen base record at the University of Redlands.  She now owns the career and single season records for stolen bases.   

Against Bridgewater she was 3-for-5 with a run scored, a double, and three stolen bases.  Against Gustavus Adolphus she was 3-for-5 with four runs scored, two RBI's, three walks, and another two stolen bases.  Then to end the week against the Regals she was 4-for-11 with four runs scored, an RBI, two walks, and five stolen bases.

Redlands returns to the diamond next Tuesday, March 17 when they host Pomona-Pitzer (12:00pm) and Chapman University (3:00pm) at the Field of Dreams.
