REDLANDS, Calif. - The University of Redlands Men's Basketball program is celebrating a major milestone as standout guard Lucas Gordon (San Marcos, CA) has officially signed his first professional contract with the Mount Gambier Pioneers ahead of the 2026 NBL1 South season.

Gordon, a key contributor for the Bulldogs, earned recognition throughout his collegiate career for his leadership, scoring ability, and defensive intensity. His development at Redlands positioned him as one of the program's most impactful recent players, and his transition to the professional ranks marks a significant achievement both personally and for the university.

During his time with Redlands, Gordon consistently demonstrated a well-rounded game, combining perimeter shooting with strong court vision. Coaches praised his work ethic and ability to perform in high-pressure moments—traits that made him an attractive prospect for international opportunities.

The Mount Gambier Pioneers, based in South Australia, compete in the highly competitive NBL1 South conference, which has become a respected pathway for emerging talent and seasoned professionals alike. Gordon's signing reflects the club's commitment to adding dynamic, high-character players to its roster for the upcoming campaign.

"I'm incredibly grateful for my time at Redlands," Gordon said in a statement. "The coaching staff, my teammates, and the entire community helped shape me into the player and person I am today. I'm excited for this next chapter and the opportunity to compete in Australia.  I want to especially thank our coaches, as they helped me acquire an agent and additionally found this opportunity for me. I'm eternally grateful."

Redlands head coach Eric Bridgeland expressed pride in Gordon's accomplishment, noting that his success is a testament to both his dedication and the strength of the program. "Lucas is the epitome of a student-athlete.  An elite scholar, an exceptional player, and a legendary leader. Lucas departs our wonderful university and the program leaving his positive mark on both."

As Gordon prepares to begin his professional journey overseas, he joins a growing list of Redlands athletes making their mark beyond the collegiate level. His signing not only highlights his individual success but also reinforces the University of Redlands' reputation for developing talent capable of competing on the global stage.

The 2026 NBL1 South season is set to tip off soon, with Gordon expected to play a key role for the Pioneers as they pursue a strong season campaign.
