REDLANDS, Calif. – On Saturday morning, the University of Redlands Men's Tennis team breezed through Chapman University in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match-up inside the Verdieck Tennis Center. This puts the team at 10-9, 4-2 SCIAC.
 
At the conclusion of the women's match Head Coach Mike Longanecker and the Bulldogs celebrated their lone senior Tyler Pyle (Lake Oswego, OR). 

The men quickly went to work in doubles and swept all three spots. Vitomir Petcov (Portland, OR) and MJ Abarca (San Diego, CA) at number one and Jack Hinkle (Bountiful, UT) and Mateen Ghafarshad (Claremont, CA) at number three both went 6-3 in their match-ups.  Sam Parsons (Leamington Spa, England) and Cooper Whittington (Lake Oswego, OR) wrapped things up with a strong 6-4 win at No. 2.

Moving into singles, Hinkle at No. 4 added the next point to the scoreboard, taking down his opponent 6-4, 6-2 in just under an hour. Unfortunately, Pyle at No. 6 would not pull out a senior day win as he would drop 6-4, 6-2, despite making it very competitive.  On the top court, Petcov edged his opponent in straight sets 6-2, 7-5.

William Pullin (Peachtree City, GA) got the clinch for the Maroon and Grey at No. 5 going 6-2, 7-5. A minute later at No. 2 Gustavo Marcanth (Redondo Beach, CA) grabbed his win taking the first set 6-2 before coming back in the second despite being down five games to win in a tiebreak, 7-6.

The last match on was Abarca at No. 3 who had a difficult 7-6 loss in the first set before coming back to claim the second set 6-3, and then closing things out in a third set tiebreak 10-7.

Redlands hits the road for their final regular-season match of the season Saturday, April 25 when they take on California Lutheran University beginning at 11:00am.
