SCIAC Softball Weekly Release (Week 11)

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) selections were made for Softball Athletes of the Week Monday with freshman pitcher Caitlynn Griffith (Pala, CA) receiving recognition as the Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season.

The University of Redlands Softball team picked up another clean sweep within conference play over the weekend taking all three against Chapman University (5-1, 1-0, 14-3) to win the 2026 SCIAC Regular Season Championship Title, the sixth straight for Bulldog Softball.  With the three wins the winning streak extends to 22, Redlands improves to 32-4, 17-1 SCIAC and have now clinched the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming SCIAC Tournament.

Griffith, the freshman phenom was again electric in the circle picking up a win and a save, while throwing 6.0 Innings, no runs allowed (0.00 ERA), one hit, and six strikeouts.  She still has not allowed a run this season within conference play and is currently 5-0.

In Game 1 she entered in the 5th Inning in relief of Gandara who left with runners on the corners and nobody out.  She went on to leave both runners stranded as she grabbed two strikeouts and induced a foul out that ended the threat.  She went on to strikeout three and surrender just one hit as she grabbed her third save on the season, which is leading SCIAC and ties her for the program record.

To leadoff the doubleheader the Bulldogs found themselves in a scoreless grind with Paige Ellinger throwing.  She exited in the 4th Inning making way for Griffith who went the final 3.0 Innings scoreless, not giving up a hit or a run, while striking out three.  The late game heroics by the Bulldogs helped her secure the win.

Redlands returns to the diamond this weekend as they take on Pomona-Pitzer in a three-game series.  The Bulldogs travel to Claremont to take on the Sagehens Friday, May 1 at 3:00pm before hosting them on Saturday for Senior Day beginning at 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
