REDLANDS, Calif. - The University of Redlands and Bulldog Athletics are honored to receive one of the Pathway to Excellence Grants to support the addition of a new Athletics Compliance and Student-Athlete Success Coordinator position.

The Pathway to Excellence Grant represents a meaningful investment in the Bulldogs' holistic approach to athletics. Designed to support initiatives that enhance the student-athlete experience, the grant will help fund programming focused on academic achievement and eligibility, leadership development, mental health resources, and career readiness. This recognition highlights the department's dedication not only to competitive success, but also to preparing student-athletes for lifelong development beyond the field of play.

"This grant is a testament to the culture we are building at Redlands," explained Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Nikki Ayers. "We are committed to developing well-rounded individuals, and this funding allows us to expand critical resources that directly impact our student-athletes' growth."

This position will serve as the Athletics Compliance and Student Success Coordinator, a role designed to advance holistic support for student-athletes while reinforcing institutional values and accountability. The coordinator will play a key role in guiding student-athletes through academic, personal, and professional development by connecting them with campus resources such as mental health support, career readiness programming, and financial literacy. Through intentional outreach, progress monitoring, and individualized support, the position will help student-athletes build skills for success both during their collegiate experience and beyond.

In addition to its strong focus on student development, the role will support athletics operations by assisting with education and oversight related to NCAA and conference expectations, helping to ensure programs operate within established standards. This balanced approach reflects the University's commitment to maintaining integrity in intercollegiate athletics while prioritizing the well-being, growth, and long-term success of its student-athletes.

This position is supported by the NCAA Pathway to Excellence Grant, a national initiative that invests in the recruitment, access, and long-term success of underrepresented individuals within Division III athletics administration and coaching. Each year, a select group of institutions and conference offices are chosen through a competitive, committee-driven process. In the upcoming grant cycle, 23 total recipients have been awarded funding across the Pathway to Excellence grant.

This grant marks an exciting step forward for Redlands Athletics as the Bulldogs continue to invest in initiatives that strengthen student support systems, foster leadership development, and create meaningful opportunities beyond competition. By emphasizing life skills, academic achievement and personal growth, the department is shaping a future defined by opportunity, achievement, and service to the whole student-athlete.
