LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their 2026 softball awards Wednesday with the University of Redlands' Caitlynn Griffith (Pala, CA) being named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year (NOTY).
Griffith is the first NOTY for the Bulldogs since 2010 when Kristen Milliner won it back when the award was named "Rookie of the Year". She is also only the fifth recipient within program history to earn this recognition.
During SCIAC play she led the conference as the lone player with a sub-one earned run average (0.47) and sub-.200 batting average against (.133). She was fourth in strikeouts (31) despite being 14th in innings pitched (30). She tied for third in wins (6) and was the co-leader in saves (3).
Griffith and the Bulldogs won the SCIAC regular season title with one loss (20-1), which gave them the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SCIAC Tournament and hosting rights. The double elimination tournament begins Friday, May 8 and continues through Sunday, May 10.
