CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands baseball team (21-20) lost 12-1 in eight innings at No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Friday afternoon, which ended their season with their second loss during the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament.
The Bulldogs were down 6-0 after four innings. Eddy Stone (Petaluma, CA) got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the seventh inning when he homered to cut the deficit to five, 6-1.
CMS, though, hit three home runs in the seventh and eighth innings, which helped them complete the 10-run rule victory in the bottom of the eighth.
Nate Miller (San Jose, CA) went 2-for-4 with Stone going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Luke Hanson (Escondido, CA) made his return from injury and drew a walk in the eighth.
Aziz Bishop (Baltimore, MD) finishes the season with four saves, the 11th most in single-season program history. Ian Umscheid (Beaumont, CA) hit 16 doubles, the 10th most. Jesse Bullard (Riverside, CA) finishes with 16 home runs, the most in program history, while Miller had 11, which was the fourth most. Bullard added 49 RBI's, fifth most, and slugged .719, the seventh-highest percentage in program history. The Bulldogs' 218 walks drawn finish as the third most.
