SALEM, Va. – Three University of Redlands softball players were named to the Women's College World Series All-Tournament team with Katlyn Gandara (Whittier, CA) being named the Most Outstanding Player and Leila Gomez (San Bernardino, CA) and Jenay Scott (Merced, CA) joining her on the All-Tournament team.
Gandara made four appearances in the five games in the circle for the Bulldogs. Three were starts and two were complete games. She went 2-0 with a save and a 3.96 earned run average (ERA) across 17.2 innings. At the plate she hit .500 (8-for-16) with three walks for a .750 on-base percentage (OBP). She added four doubles, four runs batted in (RBI's) and three runs scored.
Gomez hit .600 (12-for-20) over the five games with four stolen bases, two RBI's, and a team-high nine runs scored.
Scott led the team in batting average at .667 (10-for-15), OBP at .737, and slugging percentage at .933. She added two doubles and a triple to go with four walks, four stolen bases, four RBI's, and seven runs scored.
Redlands won their first Division III National Championship thanks to a perfect 5-0 record, which included wins over Linfield University (9-7), Rowan University (10-2), Simpson College (6-3) and capped off with a 2-0 (11-3 & 7-6) series sweep of Trine University in the championship series.
