REDLANDS, CALIF. — University of Redlands Head Women's Volleyball Coach Savannah Cox is excited to announce the addition of Emma Kuivila as the new Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach for the upcoming 2026 season.

Kuivila joins Redlands after a standout tenure at Colby College, where she served as the Assistant Volleyball Coach beginning since 2024. During her time with the Mules, she helped lead the program to a NESCAC Regular Season Championship and a NESCAC Conference Tournament runner-up finish in 2024, a season in which she was also named as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year. In 2025, Colby returned to the NESCAC Tournament final, won a Regional Championship, and climbed to a No. 6 national ranking from the AVCA and a No. 3 spot in the NCAA NPI. Across her two seasons, nine Colby players earned All-NESCAC honors, seven were named All-Region, and six earned All-American recognition.

"Emma brings a rare combination of coaching acumen and operational excellence," Cox stated. "Her ability to elevate a program both on the court and behind the scenes makes her a standout addition to our staff."

Kuivila's coaching résumé extends well beyond the collegiate level. She currently coaches with Maine Juniors Volleyball Club in Saco, Maine, working with the 16U National team and instructing private lessons. Earlier in her career, she spent nearly four years with Ohio Valley Volleyball Company in Tridelphia, West Virginia, progressing from assistant to co-head to head coach across regional and national club teams, while also directing tournaments and managing club operations. She also served as an Administrative Assistant for Impact Volleyball Academy (now Nova Juniors) in Tallmadge, Ohio, overseeing records, invoicing, and league systems including USAV — experience that will support her work with Redlands' recruiting and program operations.
Before her coaching career, Kuivila competed at the collegiate level for Bethany College's Women's Volleyball team, helping the Bulldogs win back-to-back Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in 2022 and 2023, with NCAA Tournament appearances in both seasons.

Kuivila is currently pursuing an MBA in Business Administration at Thomas College in Maine, following a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management from Bethany College. She was named a Kalon Scholar, a four-year leadership and GPA-based honor, and was an active member of Phi Mu Beta Mu, serving as Recruitment Data Chair, DEI Chair, and Panhellenic Delegate.
