REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands women's soccer team (1-4) kept the game tied for 26 minutes thanks to seven Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) saves, but the Maroons of No. 3 University of Chicago would score twice within a minute, eventually taking the game, 5-0.
In those first 26 minutes the Bulldogs did put two of their own shots on goal as Jessica Chavez (Cayucos, CA) and Brenna Cote (Manitou Springs, CO) each had their attempts stopped.
After allowing the two goals in the first half Immoos needed to make three more saves. First-Year Taylor Tidquist (Snoqualmie, WA) then earned a chance to get the Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the 41st minute but the Maroon keeper made the stop to send the two sides into the half with the scoreline still at 2-0.
Five of the first six shots came from Chicago in the first 17 minutes of the second half with three of their five shots finding the back of the net.
Over the final 19 minutes each substitute goalkeeper made a save with Redlands' Rhiannon Waldschmidt (San Jose, CA) making two to keep the Maroons from adding any further tallies.
Redlands managed seven shots but four did find the target. The Bulldog keepers combined for 12 saves out of 17 shots on goal and 32 total attempts.
The first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game of the season will be this Saturday, September 19 at 1:30 p.m. when the Bulldogs welcome the California Institute of Technology to Farquhar Field.
