Emma Kuivila joins the University of Redlands as an Assistant Coach for Women's Volleyball after serving as the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where she led recruiting coordination, travel planning, athlete communication, and the program's graphic design and social media presence.
She joined the Colby staff in July 2024, where she helped guide the program to a string of standout results: NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year and NESCAC Regular Season Champions honors in 2024, followed by a NESCAC Conference Tournament runner-up finish, Regional Championship, and a No. 6 AVCA national ranking in 2025. Under her guidance, Colby has produced multiple All-NESCAC, All-Region, and All-American selections in each of the past two seasons.
Emma's coaching career spans youth, club, and collegiate volleyball. She currently coaches with Maine Juniors Volleyball Club in Saco, Maine, working with the 16U National team and instructing private lessons. Her background also includes several years with Ohio Valley Volleyball Company in Tridelphia, West Virginia, where she progressed from assistant to co-head to head coach across regional and national club teams, alongside tournament directing and administrative work. She previously served as an Administrative Assistant for Impact Volleyball Academy (now Nova Juniors) in Tallmadge, Ohio, managing records, invoicing, and league systems including USAV.
As a student-athlete, Emma played for Bethany College, helping the team capture back-to-back Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships (2022, 2023) and reach the NCAA Tournament during both seasons.
She is currently pursuing an MBA in Business Administration at Thomas College in Maine and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management from Bethany College. During her undergraduate years, she was a Kalon Scholar and an active member of Phi Mu Beta Mu, serving as Recruitment Data Chair, DEI Chair, and Panhellenic Delegate.
