The University of Redlands women's soccer team scored
early on in the Wednesday, Oct. 29 match against Cal Lutheran
University, and the one goal proved to be the game-winner as the
Bulldogs won 1-0.
In the 21st minute, sophomore midfielder Kelsey Kimmel (Clinton,
WA) pounded the ball past Regal goalkeeper Kristin Borzi, scoring
off a saved shot. Freshman midfielder Fionna Connolly (Salem, OR)
picked up the assist on the play.
Redlands, which is ranked 11th in the nation in goals against
average, stymied Cal Lutheran, allowing just five shots. Junior
goalkeeper Tenley Rawlings (Salt Lake City, UT) notched one save in
the second half of play and earned the shutout.
Borzi manned the net for the Regals, saving a shot and allowing the
lone goal of the tilt.
The Bulldogs (12-4-1, 8-3 SCIAC) close out their regular season on
Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. on Farquhar Field against
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. Prior to kickoff, there will be a
pregame ceremony that will recognize the four seniors on the
Redlands team.
