Box Score The University of Redlands women's basketball team jumped out to
a 10-0 lead over the visiting Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Colleges and never relinquished control of the game en route to a
72-59 victory on Saturday. The Bulldogs opened the game with solid
shooting, stretching their lead to as many as 19 points late in the
first half. Although the Athenas mounted a late-game comeback, they
fell short of overtaking the Bulldogs.
Redlands converted 28 points off of the Athenas' 20 turnovers
and shot 40.4% from the floor.
Redlands gained 34 points off the bench, including 13 from freshman
forward Shada Sadeghi (Walnut Creek, CA), who went 5-for-8 from the
floor. Freshman forward Courtney Carroll (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA)
added 10 points to go along with four assists. Eight other Bulldogs
chipped in two or more points.
Sophomore transfer guard Mariah Barbetti-Cort (Ventura, CA)
continued to impress with nine rebounds, including four on the
offensive end. She also provided four assists, one block and one
steal.
CMS gained double figures from Sasha Goldkorn with 15, Aria
Krumwiede with 13, and Michela Isono with 12.
The Bulldogs (9-3, 2-0 SCIAC) head to Whittier College on Thursday
for a 7:30 p.m. match-up with the Poets.
