Box Score The University of Redlands men's soccer team shut down the
offense of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges as the Bulldogs
prevailed, 1-0, over the Stags on Wednesday evening in
Redlands.
In the 53rd minute, senior midfielder Will Kelly (Seattle, WA)
drove down the right wing and crossed a pass to the center of the
box. Sophomore midfielder Cody Carlson (Burbank, CA) took
Kelly's pass, squared, and sent the ball flying into the back
of the net, giving Redlands a 1-0 lead that it would not
relinquish.
The Bulldogs dictated the tempo of the game, keeping the ball in
their offensive third for the majority of the match.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps managed eight shots, but just two were put
on target. The Maroon and Gray uncorked 15 shots and earned four
corner-kick opportunities to the Stags' three.
Senior goalkeeper Evan Hobson (San Diego, CA) kept a clean sheet
for the third straight match, making two saves. The Bulldog back
line continued to improve the team's goals-against average on
the season, dropping the figure from 1.29 to 1.21 with its shutout
effort.
In between the pipes for the visitors, Ryan Fahey turned away three
shots. Notably, the Stag defense notched two team saves on the
evening.
