The University of Redlands women's basketball team took
down the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Thursday night by a
score of 59-43. With the win, the Bulldogs sit behind a two-way tie
for first place in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (SCIAC).
Redlands jumped out to an early 10-0 lead with 15:39 remaining
in the first half. With less than a minute to go, the Sagehens
closed within three but junior guard Ali Bueno (San Jose, CA) sank
her second of four three-pointers to put the Bulldogs up by six.
During the second half, the Bulldogs extended their lead to 17
points at the three-minute mark and never looked back en route to
their solid win.
Redlands gained three players in double figures with Bueno
leading the charge with 16. Freshman forward Shada Sadeghi
(Walnut Creek, CA) added 12 on 5-for-8 shooting, while freshman
forward Courtney Carroll came up with her third double-double of
the season with 14 points and 16 rebounds.
On Saturday, the Bulldog women's basketball team heads to
the University of La Verne for an important match against the
conference co-leaders. Saturday's game tips off at 5 p.m. and
features the “Pink Zone” promotion for breast cancer
awareness.
