While facing its third opponent among the top six in the country, the No. 16 University of Redlands men's tennis team faltered to No. 2 Amherst College (MA) by a score of 1-8 in today's non-conference bout at Verdieck Courts.

After losing all three of the doubles matches, the Bulldogs faced a continuous uphill battle, but the Lord Jeffs nabbed the first four singles point to secure the win.

Junior Mark Bloom (San Juan Capistrano, CA) recorded the team's only point with an impressive 6-2, 6-3 victory at the No. 6 slot. This marks his fourth consecutive singles win against a ranked team, which included triumphs over opponents from No. 4 Emory University (GA) and No. 6 UC Santa Cruz.

Redlands (4-6) strives to halt its recent skid when it takes to the court on Friday for a 3 p.m. match against Skidmore College (NY).
