Box Score Competing in its second of three Northwest contests, the University of Redlands women's lacrosse team surged out to an early 5-0 lead en route to a solid 16-6 victory over Pacific University (OR) on Friday night.
The Bulldogs converted three free-position shots and scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of action against the Boxers, jumpstarting an advantage that held up through the final whistle. Sophomore midfielder Jacky Craycraft (Trabuco Canyon, CA) notched two of these netters for the Maroon and Gray.
The Redlands defense held its opponents to only five shots and two goals in the opening period, setting the stage for the solid triumph.
Overall, the Bulldogs fired off 41 scoring attempts and put away seven of their 12 free-position opportunities.
In addition to Craycraft, senior midfielder Megan Prickett (Poway, CA), senior attack player Ashley Finke (Austin, TX), sophomore midfielder KK McCaslin (Portland, OR) and freshman attack player Maggie Lehr (Kirkland, WA) each provided two-goal efforts. Six other Bulldogs found the back of the net on one occasion.
Among the Maroon and Gray's 16 draw controls, Craycraft recorded a game-high six of them.
Junior midfielder Katie Colasurdo (Eugene, OR) notched a pair of caused turnovers and sophomore defender/midfielder Allison Leipzig (Newton, MA) picked up four ground balls.
Senior goalkeeper Ana Martinez (Pleasanton, CA) made six stops while patrolling the Redlands cage in a complete-game showing.
The Bulldogs provided a perfect performance on clears, making all 11 attempts.
Pacific's Carmen Taplin registered the only multi-goal showing for the Boxers, scoring three netters on six shots.
Redlands (6-0) faces Linfield College (OR) in its final game of the Northwest slate, beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
