The University of Redlands men's soccer team could not find the back of the net on Wednesday evening, resulting in a 0-1 overtime loss to the University of La Verne.  Despite outshooting the Leopards, 18-11, the Bulldogs could not find the breakthrough in the one-goal defeat.

Redlands controlled the first stanza, registering eight shots to just three for La Verne.  The Bulldogs also held the slight advantage in corner kicks, 3-2.  The score at halftime remained 0-0, however, with both sides still looking for the all-important goal.

The Maroon and Gray began the second half well, with freshman midfielder Austin Moore (Las Vegas, NV) notching two shots and forcing the Leopards' goalkeeper, Dylan Roberts, into two saves.  The Bulldogs continued to apply pressure in a back-and-forth remainder of the second stanza, but still could not find the winning goal.

With the two sides still scoreless at the end of regulation, the match went to overtime.

In the first-overtime period, Moore and junior midfielder Matej Kustura (Las Vegas, NV) both recorded shots for Redlands, but neither got past Roberts.  La Verne (9-5-0, 7-5-0 SCIAC) eventually scored the golden goal in the 95th minute when David Gonzalez ripped a shot into the top corner, ending the contest.

Moore led the way for the U of R with four shots, all of which went on frame.  In addition, Kustura notched four shots, while junior forward Charles Izydorek (Redlands, CA) provided the Bulldogs with three.

Redlands (8-3-0, 8-3-0 SCIAC) returns to the field on Saturday for an important conference match against Occidental College (2-12-0, 1-10-0 SCIAC).  Kickoff in Eagle Rock is scheduled for 1 p.m.
