The No. 17 University of Redlands men's tennis team knocked off the seventh-ranked Spartans of Case Western Reserve University (OH) in Monday's non-conference showdown on Verdieck Courts. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-1 lead in doubles action before unleashing wins in five of the six singles matches for the overall 7-2 triumph.

In doubles, the sophomore duo of Patrick Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and Gram Leahy (Portland, OR) initiated the scoring with an 8-3 performance at the No. 1 slot.

Although Case answered with an 8-6 win at No. 2, the Bulldogs surged ahead with an 8-5 showing by seniors John Brewer (Portland, OR) and Anish Nanda (Cerritos, CA) at No. 3.

The Maroon and Gray recorded four straight-set victories in singles to blow by the Spartans, with Lipscomb, senior Connor Hyde (Peterborough, NH), and sophomore Taylor Hunt (Seattle, WA) making it official for Redlands. Lipscomb came off the court first after dismissing Case's top opponent by scores of 6-1, 6-3. Hyde returned to the lineup with a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 3, while Hunt grabbed the team's fifth point with his 6-4, 6-4 effort at No. 4.

In addition, Brewer prevailed over his No. 6 counterpart by scores of 6-4, 6-3, before Nanda rallied back from a set down to pull out the 3-6, 6-4, 10-1 triumph at the No. 5 slot.

Redlands (5-3) returns to action again on Tuesday when it hosts Sewanee (TN) at 4 p.m.
