REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team (2-10-1, 2-6-1 SCIAC) fell to No. 19 Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at Farquhar Field 5-0.
The Bulldogs trailed early 1-0 in the ninth minute.
Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) made a save on a Sagehen shot as she kept it a one-goal game in the 26
th. Stewart made another stop in the 34
th before Pomona-Pitzer scored their second and third in the 35
th and 36
th minutes.
The first and only shot for the Bulldogs in the opening half came from
Jessica Chavez (Cayucos, CA) in the 41
st minute off a free kick as the Sagehen keeper made the stop as Redlands went into the half down 3-0.
Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) came in to start the second half between the posts and made an early stop just over three minutes in. Only :39 seconds later
Shelby Page (Perris, CA) had her shot blocked as the Bulldogs started to get more looks on goal.
The Sagehens, though, found the back of the goal for the fourth and fifth times coming in the 55
th and 58
th minutes.
Down the stretch Immoos made five more saves as
Malia Kuhl (Seattle, WA) and
Sami Salinas (Foothill Ranch, CA) each had their attempts on goal stopped as the Bulldogs dropped their second game to the Sagehens on the season.
Stewart and Immoos combined to save nine attempts by the Sagehens. The offense managed only seven shots with three on goal and did not record a corner kick.
Redlands will stay in SCIAC play next week as they travel to Pasadena with a matchup against the California Institute of Technology on Wednesday, October 18 beginning at 4:00 p.m.
