REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team (2-11-2, 2-6-2 SCIAC) played a non-conference game against University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) on Saturday afternoon at Farquhar Field dropping their final non-conference game of the season 4-1.
Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) was called on for a save in the seventh minute to keep the game scoreless. But in the 15
th minute the Banana Slugs would make it 1-0.
The Bulldogs, though, took the next three shots with
Anika Schmied (Santa Cruz, CA) seeing her attempt saved in the 25th minute, followed by
Elena Pinto (Kent, WA) who saw her look hit the crossbar on a header, and then
Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) sending her shot high.
Stewart made three more saves the rest of the half as UR would go into the break, after a 42
nd minute goal by UCSC, down 2-0.
Pinto almost got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the first half and then in the second half nearly did it again as her shot hit the post with Redlands only trailing by two.

Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) was called on quickly making a big save, but the rebound would go right to a Banana Slug who would eventually finish making it 3-0. The Banana Slugs would score their fourth of the game in the 76
th.
The Bulldogs continued to fight down the stretch staying away from a shutout as
Sami Salinas (Foothill Ranch, CA) scored from 25 yards out on the left side of the field as her shot beat the keeper over her outstretched hand for her eighth of the season. Schmied had the assist, her first of her career.
The Bulldogs will travel to Chapman University next week on Wednesday, October 25 with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m.
