Sami Salinas leads Bulldogs in loss to Trinity (TX)

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team opened up 2023 with a big Division III West Regional match-up with Trinity University Friday afternoon falling 6-1 at Farquhar Field.

The Bulldogs dropped their opener getting outshot 26-4 with 14 of them being on goal and surrendering nine corner kicks.  The bright spot for the Maroon and Grey was junior Sami Salinas (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) who deadlocked the game at 1-1 in the 19th minute putting away a free-kick from 30-yards out.

Trinity took an early lead within the first minute of the game thanks to Abby Schneider.  After the game became tied at the 19:30 mark the Tigers would put away another two within eight minutes of each other taking the lead right back, which they wouldn't relinquish.  They would go on to lead 3-1 at the break and would then come out in the second half to tally another three all within thirteen minutes that put the game out of reach.

Salinas took all four shots for the Maroon and Grey with three being on goal.  Shannon Stewart (San Jose, Calif.) got the start between the posts and played all 90:00 minutes finishing with eight saves.

Redlands returns to the pitch on Sunday, September 3 to take on Northwest Conference opponent Linfield University beginning at 9:30am.
