Redlands Women's Soccer falls to Linfield | Prepares for trip to Texas

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team finished their two-game home stand at Farquhar Field Sunday morning as they fell 6-0 to Northwest Conference opponent Linfield University in non-conference match-up.

In the opening four minutes the Bulldogs earned the first shot of the game, a look coming on a free kick from Jessica Chavez (Cayucos, CA).  Over the next ten minutes the Wildcats would outshoot the Bulldogs 5-0 and scored the opening goal in the 10th minute.

In the 15th Redlands earned their first corner of the game, but they were unable to turn it into a shot. Two minutes later UR was able to get a look coming from Elena Pinto (Kent, WA) who had her shot go over the crossbar.

Linfield made it 2-0 in the 38th. Over the next two minutes the Bulldogs showed some life as Madeline Tetens (San Diego, CA) and Julianna Ortega (Whittier, CA) would each force saves out of the Wildcat keeper. Tetens shot was saved exactly a minute after the goal and Ortega's header was stopped as they put their first two shots on-goal.

After allowing the third, fourth, and fifth goals in the second half to Linfield, Redlands had looks on six different occasions within a twenty minute span.  Jaiden Riodil (Tigard, OR) and Natalie Turiace (San Dimas, CA) each had two attempts stopped in the box, while another three shots were denied by Linfield defenders.

Riodil had a team-high three shots with two on goal.  Taytum Stewart (Lake Elsinore, CA), Turiace, and Shelby Page (Perris, CA) each had two shots. Then in goal Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) made six saves on 11 shots on-target in 78 minutes.

The Bulldogs will play on the road in Texas next weekend as they travel to McMurry University on Friday, September 8 at 5:00 p.m.  The very next day they play Hardin-Simons University also at 5:00 p.m. as three of their first four games are against programs from Texas.
