Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Kelsey Williams' long-range strike wins it for Redlands Women's Soccer

REDLANDS, Calif. – Kelsey Williams' (Murrieta, CA) 30-yard shot in the 14th minute won the game 1-0 for the University of Redlands Women's Soccer team (7-7-1, 3-6-0) Saturday night at Farquhar Field over Whittier College.

Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) made the first save of the game and Natalie Turiace (San Dimas, CA) had the first look on goal for the Bulldogs in the first nine minutes.

Later in the first half Malia Kuhl (Seattle, WA) took possession of a loose ball in the U of R's defensive half. She found Caprial Loescher (Portland, OR) around the midfield line where she quickly passed it off to Williams who dribbled in space before taking a shot that floated over the outstretched arm of the Poet keeper.

The rest of the half Stewart made two more saves, one of which came with a minute and a half left on a one-on-one situation in the box.

Jaiden Riodil (Tigard, OR) and Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) added another two attempts that forced saves, but neither were able to extend the lead.

Stewart continued to shine between the posts as she made three more saves to preserve the three points in a must win situation for the Bulldogs as they look to earn a spot in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament.

Redlands remains at home on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00pm when they host the University of La Verne in their final home SCIAC game of the season.
