THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team (7-10-1, 3-8 SCIAC) had the difficult task of making the longest trip in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) to No. 29 California Lutheran University (CLU) Wednesday evening where they were tied at one in the 79th minute before the Regals scored three times in the final ten minutes to win it 4-1.
Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) was the first player on either side to have an attempt saved as she went for the middle of the goal on the ground in the 13th minute.
Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) then made her first stop in the 26th as the Bulldog defense held the Regals down early on.
CLU broke through in the 33rd. More times than not this would be enough to win the game, it was a few weeks ago at Farquhar Field when the Regals won 1-0 on a first half finish.
This time, however, Immoos made two more saves before the half and then four in the opening 17 minutes of the second period before Gianna Alati (Lake Oswego, OR) found Kelsey Williams (Murrieta, CA) for the equalizer in the 67th minute.
The Bulldogs have not earned a point against CLU since 2018 when they earned a 1-0 victory. Following the goal, Semmere' s shot in the 73rd minute was the first look that required either keeper to make a save.
In the 79th and 80th minutes Immoos was again up to the task in goal, stopping three Regal shots as they were within 10 minutes of picking up a point on the road.
Six seconds following the third attempt that was saved, CLU put home what would be the eventual game winner. They subsequently scored less than two minutes later and added a fourth in the 89th.
In her second career start Immoos made a career-high 12 saves as she kept the Bulldogs alive as long as she could. Semmere had four of the eight Redlands shots and two of their five shots that were on target.
Redlands ends their 2024 season on the road at Occidental College this Saturday, November 2 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
