REDLANDS, Calif. – The No. 22 ranked University of Redlands Women's Tennis team grinded out a 4-1 win over No. 25 Washington & Lee Wednesday night inside the Verdieck Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs have now won three in a row all coming against nationally ranked teams.  They also snapped the Generals nine-match winning streak, handing them their first loss on the season.

The match was played under the Division I format with doubles counting for only one point and the match being played to decision.  Redlands fell behind after doubles but battled back to take four points in singles en route to the victory.

Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) and Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) rolled at No. 3 doubles winning 6-2.  But at No. 2 the team of Rayna Sugai (Las Vegas, NV) and Kaylin Kielty (Canyon Lake, CA) would fall 6-3 forcing the No. 1 match to be the decisive point. Livi Rockwood (Park City, UT) and Maegan Deng (Redondo Beach, CA) provided pressure on the top team for the Generals forcing a tie-breaker, but would eventually fall 7-6 (13-11) allowing Washington & Lee to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.

This would be the lone point picked up for the Generals as the Bulldogs would pick up a quick four points.  Sugai bounced back strong at No. 4 cruising 6-2, 6-1.  She was followed by L. Rockwood at No. 3 who would grab the second point winning 6-3, 6-2.  Third off was Kielty who also had a bounce back win from doubles who rolled 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5.  The eventual clinch came at No. 1 from Deng who would grab a break in each set winning 6-3, 6-3 giving the Maroon and Grey their fourth point on the evening.
