Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Redlands Women's Water Polo falls, 14-6, at No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team (4-16, 3-4 SCIAC) dropped a14-6 match-up in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) road game at No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) Saturday morning.

Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA) got the Bulldogs scoring started at the 4:37 mark of the first quarter as she cut the deficit to two, 3-1. That would be the lone score for Redlands in the first half as they trailed 11-1.

The defense for the Bulldogs held the Athenas scoreless for almost the entire third quarter, while Kaitlynn Pierceall (Beaumont, CA) scored twice. That nearly scoreless third for CMS was avoided as they scored as time expired, just like they did to end the first half.

In the final eight minutes the Athenas found the back of the net for the first two scores before Christine Chua (Arcadia, CA) registered her first goal with 6:12 left in what was one of three unanswered goals to end the game.

Pierceall ended her day with a game-high four goals as she scored two more times over the final four minutes.

In goal Evelyn Teeter (Westminster, CA) made six saves across the 32:00 minutes.

Redlands will return to the Thompson Aquatic Center (TAC) next Wednesday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. as they host T-No. 5 California Lutheran University (CLU) in a key game between teams tied for fifth at 3-4 in SCIAC.
