Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Redlands Men's Soccer falls at No. 10 Cal Poly Pomona

POMONA, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Soccer team (0-1) opened their 2024 season with a trip to Division II and No. 10 ranked Cal Poly Pomona Friday night where they lost 2-1 conceding a 1-0 lead in the final six minutes.

Starting goalkeeper Brady Bachman (San Diego, CA) was tested early making two key saves in the first 10 minutes to keep it scoreless.

After the two saves neither team tested the other keeper until the 42nd minute when Anthony Sena (Henderson, NV) and Owen Jamieson (Danville, CA) combined to set up Ryan Hubbard (Aliso Viejo, CA) for the opening goal.  Hubbard was found on the wing following a pair of passes before carrying the ball into the box and finishing cross-cage putting the U of R up 1-0 at the break.

Bachman then made three more saves in the second half before the Broncos scored the tying and lead-taking goals in a span of :44 seconds coming in the 85th minute.

Despite the tough defensive stand the Bulldogs could not get the offense going as they managed only seven shots, with the goal being the lone attempt that found the target. Taylor Bell (Highland, CA) led all Bulldogs with two shots.

It is a quick turnaround with a match-up with Luther College Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Farquhar Field. The Norse tied 1-1 with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Friday night.
