REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team (4-2-1) cruised past Elmhurst University 3-0 on Saturday at Farquhar Field as Natalie Turiace (San Dimas, CA), Jaiden Riodil (Tigard, OR), and Anika Schmied (Santa Cruz, CA) all scored.
Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) was forced into a fourth-minute save as she tipped a ball over the crossbar after it took a high bounce on a long ball into the box.
Four minutes later CJ Akroush (Pasadena, CA) was able to help put UR on the scoreboard carrying possession towards the endline before sending a cross in front of the goal back post where Turiace was standing for a header making it 1-0.
Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) and Kelsey Williams (Murrieta, CA) followed with shots having to be saved in the 17th minute, but the game stayed 1-0 at the break.
It was all Bulldogs to begin the second half as Turiace took two early shots, one, which required a save and the other that went high. Akroush also put a shot on-goal before the 53rd- minute score from Riodil. Her finish came after Williams sent a long ball into the box from the wing that Riodil took on the short hop finishing back post moving the score to 2-0.
Three minutes later Elena Pinto (Kent, WA) got off two shots, both which were saved, before Schmied finished off the third goal of the game finishing off a cross in the box that came from Pinto.
Stewart would only need to make one more save the rest of the way as the Bulldogs picked up a bounce back win.
Redlands dominated the Bluejays with a 21-11 shot edge and a 14-3 shot on-goal advantage. Stewart played all 90:00 minutes grabbing three saves and Semmere, Turiace, Malia Kuhl (Seattle, WA) and Riodil each added three shots apiece.
