Redlands Men's Soccer overcomes two-goal deficit to salvage point at Occidental

LOS ANGELES – The University of Redlands Men's Soccer team (4-2-2, 1-1-1 SCIAC) came back from a 2-0 deficit at Occidental College Saturday earning a point in the conference standings thanks to two unanswered goals.

After allowing the Tigers to go in front 2-0 after only 25 minutes Anthony Sena (Henderson, NV) put the Bulldogs on the board in the 34th.

There was only one more shot the rest of the half and it came from Jacob White (Fontana, CA) who forced a save from the Oxy keeper as UR went into the break down 2-1.

In the second half Redlands was quiet for the first 16:00 minutes until they received a corner kick, which they capitalized on with Julian Weber (Haiku, HI) finding Bo Robertson (Portland, OR) for his first career goal and the equalizer.

After tying things up at 2-2 the Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas pedal as Connor Claborn (Santa Clarita, CA) forced a save less than two minutes later.

Then in the 74th Taylor Bell (Highland, CA) unleashed a shot that went to the bottom 90 but it was stopped.

Phillip Kostenko (Redmond, WA) had the final look in the 88th forcing a save at the top of the goal as neither team was able to secure the three points.

Redlands' offense forced three saves and had the goal in the second half, while their defense allowed only one shot to make it to Brady Bachman (San Diego, CA).  As a team the Bulldogs totaled 13 shots with seven on goal and added six corner kicks.

The Bulldogs travel to Claremont, CA to take on Pomona-Pitzer this Wednesday, October 2 beginning at 4:00 p.m.
