Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Redlands Women's Water Polo opens 2025 at CBU Lancer Joust Invite

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team (0-2) opened the Tamara Perea era at the Lancer Joust Invite hosted by California Baptist University (CBU) on Saturday dropping both games to host RV Cal Baptist University (28-5) and the University of La Verne (21-9).

Game 1: RV Cal Baptist University; L, 28-5

The Bulldogs trailed 7-0 after five minutes before Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA) scored her first of the season getting a goal closer to the Top-10 in career goals. She started the season 35 goals back of Jill Stein for 10th place.

Just over a minute later Aubree Nabors (Conroe, TX) found Parker on a powerplay to make it an 8-2 deficit with 1:18 left in the first.

Later in the second quarter Marlie Potocki (Joliet, Ill.) scored back-to-back connections within :44 seconds of each other to make it a nine-goal deficit, 13-4, with 2:23 remaining half. Katelyn Dwelley (Wildomar, CA) and Lucia Notaro (Thousand Oaks, CA) picked up their first assists of the year on the goals.

The final scoring tally came from Dwelley at the 5:38 mark of the third as the Bulldogs scored their fifth goal, four of which came against a full strength Lancer defense.

In goal freshman Daisy Rojo (Highland, CA) faced 34 shots, including two penalties, and made the first three saves of her career.

Game 2: University of La Verne; L, 21-9

Kennedy Mobley (Wildomar, CA) got the scoring started in the first two minutes as she found the back of the net for her first career goal and an early 1-0 lead for the U of R.

Following a 6-0 Leopard run, Nabors found Teagan May (Carlsbad, CA) on a powerplay for her first career goal with 1:32 to play in the first quarter. The final goal of the quarter would come from Anika Lundbaek (San Anselmo, CA) as Nabors picked up another assist on the day as it was 7-3 La Verne after eight minutes.

ULV would again put together six straight as they held a 10-goal advantage, 13-3, with 2:47 remaining in the opening half. Redlands, though, would score two of the final three goals of the half thanks to Notaro.

An Ainsley Killian (Beaverton, CA) assist, Lundbaek goal at the 2:48 mark of the third started a 4-2 Bulldog run that included goals from Parker, Lundbaek, and Alyssa Sorrell (Highland, CA). The Sorrell goal made it 18-9 La Verne :27 seconds into the fourth quarter.

The Sorrell goal would be the last tally of the game for the Bulldogs as they lost 21-9, though, they allowed only three Leopard goals in the fourth, the fewest of the eight quarters played on the day.

Nabors had two assists, May with a goal, assist, and a steal, Notaro a brace, a drawn exclusion, and three steals, Lundbaek a hat trick, and Parker had a goal and an assist. Rojo started and played the first three quarters, making three saves. Christine Chua (Arcadia, CA) played the fourth period.

The Bulldogs will make the cross-country trip to Providence, Rhode Island next week as they compete at the Bruno Classic hosted by Brown University on February 1-2.
