WHITTIER, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team (0-10-2, 0-6-1 SCIAC) fell on the road at Whittier College 3-0 Saturday evening.
Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) had a first minute save before the Bulldogs had three-straight corner kicks from Natalie Turiace (San Dimas, CA), Natalie Schumann (Murrieta, CA), and Jaiden Riodil (Tigard, OR), though, none of the corners turned into goal-scoring opportunities.
The first shot of the game for Redlands came in the 20th minute when Gianna Alati (Lake Oswego, OR) had her attempt saved. The Whittier keeper would need to make two more saves the rest of the way as the sides went into halftime scoreless.
In the opening minutes of the second half the Poets found the back of the net twice. They led 1-0 early in the period and the Bulldogs thought they had the equalizer soon after coming on a Turiace goal, but offsides was called.
Jersey Babb (Littleton, CO), Madeline Tetens (San Diego, CA), and CJ Akroush (Pasadena, CA) all had dangerous attempts through the 65th minute with Babb and Akroush forcing saves and Tetens hitting the crossbar.
The rest of the way Riodil and Akroush forced two more saves, while the lone attempt on target for Whittier found the back of the net for the final score of 3-0.
Redlands will remain on the road for a game against Chapman University on Wednesday, October 15 at 4:00 p.m.
