Bulldog Women's Soccer edged 1-0 at La Verne despite scoring chances

LA VERNE, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team (1-13-2, 1-9-1 SCIAC) continued their strong defensive play Wednesday evening, conceding just one goal at the University of La Verne, eventually falling 1-0.

Despite the scoreless loss, the Bulldogs had their opportunities offensively. Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) had a look on goal just :50 seconds into the game. Then in the 18th minute Gianna Alati (Lake Oswego, OR) also forced a save as the Bulldogs had the lone shots on target the entire first half.

In a much more active offensive second half, Natalie Turiace (San Dimas, CA) began the attack with a shot that was handled in the 47th minute. Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) then made her first stop of the night in the 53rd.

On only their second shot on goal of the game, the Leopards beat Stewart in the 56th minute taking a 1-0 lead that they would hold for the remainder of the game.

Stewart needed only one more save the rest of the way as Turiace added two more shots on frame, both which were handled on the ground by the Leopard keeper.

The Bulldogs had more chances to score, holding an 11-9 (5-3 SOG) shot advantage.

Redlands wraps up their regular season on the road at No. 7 Pomona-Pitzer this Saturday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m.
