ORANGE, Calif. – The University of Redlands Swimming and Diving teams dropped their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) duals at Chapman University Friday afternoon with scores of 236-51 on the men's side and 172-114 on the women's.
Ethan Chir (Las Vegas, NV) had the best day for the men's team finishing third in the 100 Breaststroke (58.23) and second in the 200 Breast (2:08.55). In the 200 Medley Relay he along with Flynn Bayne (Seattle, WA), Landynn Olivas (El Centro, CA), and David Basa (Hoffman, Ill.) combined to take fourth (1:39.94).
On the women's side Avery Wells (Seattle, WA) led the charge with a third place finish in the 50 Free (25.49) and second in the 100 Free (55.76). She along with Lina Matera (Hingham, MA), Athena Fitzgerald (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA), and Clare Carroll (Jamestown, RI) took second (1:53.32) in the 200 Medley Relay. In the 200 Free Relay Wells swam the lead leg with Kaile Itow (Morgan Hill, CA), Carroll, and Brooklyn Green (Cary, NC) combining for a third place finish (1:43.29).
Kileigh Ackerman (Evergreen, CO) came in second in the 200 Back (2:12.04) and won the 100 Back (1:01.18).
Redlands heads to Monterey Park for the La Verne Winter Collegiate Invitational hosted by East Los Angeles College where the SCIAC Championships will be held Friday-Sunday, November 21-23.
