REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Swimming and Diving teams opened their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) season with a dual win over the University of La Verne Friday afternoon at the Thompson Aquatic Center (TAC).
Men
The Bulldogs had a dominant 164-point win, 199-35, winning all of their events.
Flynn Bayne (Seattle, WA) had wins in the 200 Medley Relay along with Ethan Chir (Las Vegas, NV), Landynn Olivas (El Centro, CA), and David Basa (Hoffman, Ill.). The quartet swam a 1:40.93. Bayne also won the 50 Back (26.42) and 100 Back (55.63).
Chir and Landynn also had added three individual wins. Chir won the 50 Breast (27.44), 100 Breast (59.47), and 200 IM (2:01.41). Landynn took the win in the 100 Fly (55.33), 50 Fly (25.41), and combined with Noah Tikoo (Oviedo, FL), Cole Robinson (Phoenix, AZ), and Joseph Madigan (Alexandria, VA) with a time of 1:32.08 in the 200 Free Relay.
Women
The Bulldogs women's team also had a dominant afternoon, beating the Leopards by 98 points, 173-75, taking wins in all but five events.
In the 200 Medley Relay, Ana-Adela Duran (Albuquerque, NM), Athena Fitzgerald (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA), Clare Carroll (Jamestown, RI), and Avery Wells (Seattle, WA) swam a 1:54.18 taking the win.
Fitzgerald, a freshman, also won the 100 Breast (1:11.72) and the 50 Fly (29.18). Carroll added an individual win in the 100 Fly (1:04.25) and teamed up with Wells, Brooklyn Green (Cary, NC), and Kaile Itow (Morgan Hill, CA) for the 200 Free Relay victory (1:43.65).
For Wells she finished her meet with four total event wins, the two in the relays and two individually. She took down the field in the 100 Free (55.35) and did the same in the 200 Free (2:01.51).
The Bulldogs compete in their first road meet and their second and final SCIAC meet of 2026 next Friday, November 14 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapman University.
