Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Parker, Chua, and Lundbaek recognized on Senior Day against Occidental

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team (1-20, 0-9 SCIAC) honored their three seniors, Anika Lundbaek (San Anselmo, CA), Christine Chua (Arcadia, CA), and Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA), prior to their 12-6 home loss to Occidental College Saturday morning.

In the opening four minutes the Bulldogs found themselves down 3-0.  But Lucia Notaro (Thousand Oaks, CA) and Chua would both score to pull the U of R within one, 3-2. Kennedy Mobley (Wildomar, CA) and Parker had the assists.

Two of the first three goals of the second quarter went to Redlands. Their two goals (Ainsley Killian (Beaverton, OR) and Notaro) extended their run to 4-2 and cut the deficit back to one, 5-4, as the defense held Occidental to only one goal for more than eight minutes.

The Tigers got back on the scoreboard with 1:26 to play in the opening half before Killian found Chua for a powerplay goal with :14 seconds to go in the first half.

After a solid defensive first half, conceding just six goals, the Bulldog defensive unit again posted a strong performance in the second half again allowing just six goals.  The lapse came on the offensive end being held scoreless until the 4:47 mark of the fourth when Chua scored for a third time, this time coming off a Mobley assist on a powerplay.

Chua was joined by Notaro who also had a multi-goal day with two. Killian had two points thanks to a goal and an assist. Parker did not score, leaving her one goal shy of the Top-10 in career goals, but she did assist on a pair of tallies, drew two exclusions, and recorded a game-high three steals. Lundbaek had a steal as well.

In goal Aubree Nabors (Conroe, TX) had a very good performance, stopping 52% of the shots on target and making 13 total saves.

Redlands will have one more home game, but their next two occur on the road, beginning with a trip to No. 8 University of La Verne on Wednesday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m.
