LA VERNE, Calif. – Emma Parker (Yucaipa, CA) moved into the record books Wednesday night scoring three goals as she took over 10th place for most career goals with 166 as the University of Redlands Women's Water Polo team (1-21, 0-10) fell 14-9 at the University of La Verne.
The Leopards scored in the first :13 seconds before the Bulldogs held them scoreless for five minutes, while Paker found Anika Lundbaek (San Anselmo, CA) for the opening Redlands connection.
Trailing 3-1 late in the first, Parker scored goal number 164 in her career, tying her with Jill Stein (2010-13) for the 10th most in program history. The goal started a 3-0 run that put the Bulldogs in front, 4-3, with 4:27 remaining in the half. During the run Parker scored her second goal to take sole possession of 10th place off a Kennedy Mobley (Wildomar, CA) assist before she assisted on Alyssa Sorrell's (Highland, CA) first of the evening.
La Verne, though, would score four times in the final 2:39 of the half as Redlands found themselves down by three, 7-4.
The run would eventually extend to six straight as the two teams were separated by five goals, 9-4, with less than five minutes on the clock in the third.
Christine Chua (Arcadia, CA) broke up the Leopard run with an assist and a goal in just over a minute of each other to help the Bulldogs draw within three, 9-6, with 3:36 still to play.
Despite the strong response, La Verne put the game away with three unanswered goals, which stretched down to the 6:14 mark of the fourth quarter to extend their lead to six, 12-6.
Over the final 5:44 Chua scored on a powerplay, while Lundbaek and Parker each assisted on a pair of Mobley goals in the final minute.
Parker finished with six points thanks to three goals and three assists. She added a drawn exclusion and five steals. Chua and Mobley each had a brace. Lucia Notaro (Thousand Oaks, CA) drew an exclusion and recorded two steals. In goal Aubree Nabors (Conroe, TX) made six saves and took possession from the Leopards twice.
Redlands wraps up their road schedule with a morning trip to Whittier College this coming Saturday, April 12 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
