IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team (0-1) jump started their 2025 season with a non-conference road game at Hope International University (HIU) Friday afternoon falling 4-0.
Nicole Immoos (San Luis Obispo, CA) got the start in goal and made a save in the first four minutes. Gianna Alati (Lake Oswego, OR) and Natalie Turiace (San Dimas, CA) both forced saves by the HIU keeper in the fifth and sixth minutes as the game remained scoreless.
HIU made it 1-0 in the 16th minute before Caprial Loescher (Portland, OR) took a shot that was saved only a couple of minutes later. The Bulldogs saw shots come from Sabrina Semmere (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) and Abbie Jackson (Claremont, CA), but both were handled, and the U of R would go into the half trailing 2-0.
Madeline Tetens (San Diego, CA) got off the first shot of the second half for the Maroon and Grey in the 51st minute, but again the Royals' keeper was up to the task as the Bulldogs continued to try and cut the deficit in half.
Jackson and Alati were able to add a pair of shots that were on target the rest of the way, but Redlands ultimately let in two more goals as they dropped their season opener. With the loss it won't affect Redlands' NCAA Power Index (NPI), which decides NCAA Tournament at-large qualification, as the Royals are an National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) program.
Alati and Jackson finished with two shots each, while Immoos made four saves against eight shots on target.
Redlands has their home opener this Sunday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. when they host North Central College at Farquhar Field.
