U of R Women's Soccer opens home SCIAC schedule with scoreless draw

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Soccer team (0-5-2, 0-1-1 SCIAC) played the University of La Verne (ULV) to a scoreless draw in their home Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opener Wednesday evening at Farquhar Field.

Less than a minute into the game Jaiden Riodil (Tigard, OR) got the first look for the Bulldogs forcing an early Tiger save. Nicole Immoos' (San Luis Obispo, CA) first save was not needed until the 18th minute.

The first really good look was off a free kick by the Leopards, which hit the crossbar. The remainder of the half neither side put any shots in dangerous areas, and the half ended the way it started, scoreless.

After a mostly quiet first half for the Bulldog keeper, substitute Shannon Stewart (San Jose, CA) was forced into a save less than four minutes into her first season appearance, but she handled the early chance.

From the 71st through the 72nd minute Stewart made three big saves, two of which were great scoring chances for the Leopards.

Claire August (Mountlake Terrace, WA) had a header on target in the 74th minute for the Maroon and Grey, but that would be the only shot on target in the half for the Bulldogs.

In the final 10 minutes Stewart made a pair of saves to earn the Bulldogs their first point of the conference season.

Immoos made two saves in the first 45, while Stewart posted six.

Redlands heads to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) this Saturday, September 27 for a 7:00 p.m. game with the Athenas.
